Police: Enough evidence for criminal charges against Balad MKs
Senior officials in Arab party interrogated over election campaign donations and expenditures.
Police announced Tuesday that a prima facie evidentiary basis had been formed against senior Balad party officials suspected of corruption offenses including lack of integrity, fraud, forgery, money laundering, and breach of trust.
Among the senior officials were MKs Jamal Zahalka, Hanin Zoabi and Juma Azbarga.
The evidentiary basis was formed following a large-scale investigation at the National Fraud Investigation Unit , during which a large number of suspects, some under caution, including public officials, were interrogated.
The suspects were interrogated following reports given to the State Comptroller by the party regarding donations received in the 2013 elections and reports on the 2015 election expenditures.
The investigation file was submitted for review by the State Attorney’s Office for examination and for purposes of deciding on the indictment.
